Biography
BK Rana is Director of the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), Quality Council of India. He has been the Vice-Chairman, Accreditation Council of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) since 2008 and appointed as its Chairman in October 2014.He was President of the Asian Society for Quality in Healthcare (ASQua) in 2011 & 12 and currently, is Director on its Board. He is an Empanelled Expert for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). He served as External Consultant of World Health Organization (WHO) on setting up hospital accreditation program. He is an Expert for laboratory accreditation (ISO 15189 and ISO/IEC 17025) and specializes in managing accreditation body (ISO/IEC 17011). He is a Member of the Technical Committee of National GLP Compliance Monitoring Authority of India, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. BK has also served as International Expert as APLAC Evaluator for evaluation of Accreditation Bodies in the area of Medical, Food and Pharmaceuticals testing laboratories.Prior to his career at NABH, BK served as Accreditation Officer and Manager-Proficiency Testing at National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL), India. He was responsible for initiating accreditation activity for Medical/ Clinical, Forensic Science, Molecular Biology and Dope Testing laboratories. He is a Trainer and Lead Assessor for Medical Assessors as per ISO 15189.

His expertise on Standardization, Quality and Accreditation include establishing accreditation bodies [Laboratory (ISO/IEC 17011) and Healthcare Providers (ISQua)], External Quality Assessment Schemes (ISO/IEC 17043), Standard Development, Training Program Development, Implementation of the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 15189 and ISO/IEC 17043.
